KV Writes is a record of my journey as a stay at home mum writing her first novel. The novel is historical fiction set in 15th Century Renaissance Italy. My blog includes links for aspiring writers, stay at home mums interested in literary pursuits, and anyone who is interested in history and historical fiction.
Much of what I will write here will be about living in Tropical North Queensland as a thirty-something year old woman, mother, sister, aunty, friend and evolving spirit grappling with existence in this life I have chosen. I look forward to sharing the lucid dreamscapes that inhabit my nocturnal consciousness, reflections that arise from contemplative afternoons spent on my ever-sunny balcony, the passions that may unexpectedly rise from the depths within me, and the lows that sometimes grab me from around dark corners.

This is a literary blog dedicated to books and writing and the creative process. As a columnist for Arts Hub and a contributor to other publications, I have posted a number of articles on aspects of writing, how books add value to our lives, and issues around publication. I include many of the book reviews I've published over the last several years--on Australian as well as international titles. I am represented by the Curtis-Brown Literary Agency for my fiction. As a creative writer, I have used my writing journey in workshops and in inspirational speeches. Much of this material also appears on Word Search. I am currently writing a novel on a social justice theme--mandatory detention in Australia--and this subject makes an appearance on Word Search now and then.
Every year we make our New Year's Resolutions - but how many of us keep them? I'm going to make 12 resolutions over 12 months. Come along for the ride!
